Magnetic Sheeting Laminate Surfaces

Magnetic Sheeting Synonyms (AKA) : Flexible Magnet, Rubber Magnet, Magnet Rolls, Vinyl Laminated Magnetic Sheeting, Magnet Sheet, Printable Magnet Roll Stock, Adhesive Magnet Roll Stock, Magnet Blanks…

Magnetic Sheeting Definition: - SrFeO magnet powder mixed with synthetic rubber resin, calendared into rolls .009” - .060” thick by wider than 3”, then often laminated on the non-magnetic side with various surfaces, then magnetized and stored on rolls. Widths less than 3” wide are considered “Flexible Magnet Strip”. Extruded non-rectangular shapes are considered “Flexible Magnet Profiles”. Injection molded shapes are considered “Flexible Magnetic Molded Shapes”.

Magnetic Sheeting Strength ( Pounds Pull):The thicker the flexible magnetic sheeting, the stronger the magnetic pull strength. As the surface contact increases between the magnetic sheeting and the steel surface the magnetic pull increases in strength. The more narrow the magnetic pole spacing the more the surface magnetic pull strength. Under ideal test conditions, plain magnetic sheeting can be rated in approximate pounds of pull per square foot. Peel strength is not rated due to the flexibility of the material.

Magnetic Sheeting Strength  (MGOe) :1.4 – 1.6 MGOe is the industry standard for most applications. Ours is 1.6 MGOe. Contact a sales person for “High Energy” options.

Magnetic Sheeting Flexibility:  Magnetic Sheeting is flexible like paper for printing. Magnetic Sheeting is flexible like rubber to lay flat through the printing process. Magnetic Sheeting is flexible to magnetically stick better to the contour of a curved vehicle or other magnetic attractive surface. Magnetic Sheeting is flexible for easy cutting with scissors, razor knife or machinery.

Magnetic Sheeting Cutting - Our precision equipment can cut custom sizes quickly to your needs. We also are growing our stock sizes for industry standards. We slit the magnet rolls. We cut magnet sheets. We die cut magnet shapes. We stock several widths of flexible magnetic sheeting rolls. We stock several sizes of cut rectangular sheets. We stock several die cut shapes.

Magnetic Sheeting Laminations - A variety of high quality laminations are available that are typically applied to the non-magnetic (weak) side of the sheeting.

     Vinyl Laminate Features -

  • High-quality top coat allows superior adhesion of most screen print inks and lettering enamels.
  • Will not crack when material is flexed.
  • Excellent weather resistance to rain, snow, and summer heat.

Vinyl Laminate Choices - gloss white, high gloss white and UV ink gloss white, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, silver, black, gold, brown, ivory, chrome, brushed gold, brushed silver, holographic celebration and holographic prism.

Plain - no laminates, no vinyl, no adhesive (dark brown on both sides)

Adhesive Laminate Choices -

  • Rubber-Based Craft Adhesive (indoor and craft applications)
  • Rubber-Based High-Tack Adhesive (premium)
  • Acrylic-Based Adhesive (for outdoor applications or adhering to plastics or soft vinyls)

     Custom Laminations Available

  • Write-on/Wipe-off (white)
  • Vinyl on magnetic side with adhesive on reverse.
  • High Gloss White Paper; less expensive than vinyls, accepts larger variety of inks, can write on with ink pens, easier to get crisp die cut, for indoor applications only.

Magnetic Sheeting Brand Name ZIP-GRIP

ZIP-GRIP is the The Magnet Source brand of 1.6MGOe low cost flexible rubber Magnetic Sheeting or Magnetic Strip. Magnetic Sheeting - How are Flexible Magnets Made?

A dry mixture of ferrite powder and rubber polymer resin is mixed, calendared and ground; then formed either by extrusion (for magnetic strip) or rollers (for magnetic sheeting). The material is then magnetized, laminated with vinyl or adhesive, cut to size, rolled onto a core, and boxed for shipment.

Magnetic Sheeting – What Is a Typical Good Application?

Flexible magnets are the least expensive by volume and most pliable permanent magnet material when compared to ceramic (ferrite), alnico or rare earth magnets. They perform well in a wide variety of simple applications for home, school, shop and office. They are lightweight, flat, easy to print on and easy to cut with scissors, knife or die. Also, they are ideal for advertising specialties and lightweight holding applications.

Attributes of ZIP-GRIPT Flexible Magnets

The USA produces the largest volume and the highest quality flexible magnet material in the world. Compare attributes when comparing prices.

Powerful - ZIP-GRIPT is supersaturated with magnetism in a multiple pole magnetization pattern, so its magnetic strength is evenly distributed across the surface. The thicker the material, the greater the strength. Permanent magnetism is guaranteed as long as the material is not subjected to a demagnetizing force.

Durable - ZIP-GRIPT is easy to maintain and safe for finished surfaces. It contains no oils or plasticizers that can cause cracking, drying out or surface migration.

Safe - The material is lead-free and barium-free, making it a non-toxic substrate that is safe to work with.

Machinable - ZIP-GRIPT is easily drilled or cut with scissors, knife, die or punch to fit your application.

Temperature Range - ZIP-GRIPT is designed to withstand continuous exposure to temperatures from -40ºF to 160ºF without demagnetizing.
